TD-V26 Portable Mini Digital Music Player ‘How To Use Guide’ / Instructions

This blog post provides instructions for the TD-V26 portable mini digital music player. The how to use guide should be all you need to successfully use the small item.

Warning: I’ve written these instructions to help others. If anything goes wrong, don’t blame me as you use these instructions at your own peril!

Introduction
The TD-V26 is a speaker, FM radio, mp3 player and has a microSD slot. I recently purchased one of these devices at a car boot sale and decided to help others who also own the device. So below I’ve put together instructions for the TD-V26.

How to switch between modes
If you insert media, such as a microSD or USB stick, it should automatically switch to the device. I don’t recommend inserting or ejecting a microSD or USB stick whilst the device is turned on.

You can use the ‘MODE’ button to switch between options, such as FM, line-in and a microSD or USB stick.

How to charge the device
The TD-V26 has a rechargeable battery that you charge by connecting a USB cable between the device and a 5v USB charger.

How to adjust the volume
You can decrease and increase the volume by press holding either the V- or V+ buttons. You will then see U followed by a number, which either decreases or increases until you release the button.

How to play mp3 files
You have a couple of options available to play mp3 files using a TD-V26.

  1. Place mp3 files on a microSD card and insert the card into the slot.
  2. Place files onto a USB stick and plug that into the USB port.

* You will know if a microSD card has been recognized as it will show the letters TF in the top left of the display.

Selecting another mp3 file
Quickly press the |<< or >>| buttons to move onto another file. You can pause a mp3 by press the button with the II symbol.

Song playback options
You can eithe repeat a single song or play all by holding the II button until it shows either ‘ALL’ or ‘ONE’.

Using the TD-V26 as a speaker for another device
You can plug a 3.5mm cable into the TD-V26’s line-in port and then it should output the sound to the speaker.

However I’ve had problems using the line-in and the headphone ports at the same time, due to the closeness of the ports and the thickness of the cables I was using.

Listening to FM radio
Pressing the play button for 1-2 seconds will make the TD-V26 auto scan for radio channels. Then once finished you can press the V- and V+ button to choose a preset.

Use as an microSD card reader
If you plug a USB cable into the USB slot on the TD-V26 where you would insert a USB memory stick, and then the other end of a USB cable into a computer (I tried using Windows 10), any microSD card inserted into the TD-V26 should be displayed as a drive in ‘File Explorer’.

The flashing lights
Holding the mode button will switch between fast and slow cycling/flashing colours. If you’re lucky you might be able to turn the flashing lights off by holding the mode button. Unfortunately on my TD-V26, I can’t turn the lights off.

Mini review
I thought I would add a quick review at the end of the blog post. I purchased this unit at a car boot sale, and I’ve already broken the line-in and speaker ports! I think the sound quality is okay when playing mp3 files, if those listening are near to the device. I only paid £2 GBP for the TD-V26, so I’m not too bothered that I broke it. I purchased it primarily to use the 3.5mm input and output and I don’t think I will use the remaining features that often.
